The Science Team agreed to a mechanism for joint purchase of a set of databases which are of interest to two or more libraries. The 5 databases (AGRIS, ENERGY, FSTA, TRIS, Life Sciences Collection) to be jointly purchased for network access from SilverPlatter and the cost-sharing arrangement are detailed in the Excel 5.0 attachment. The mechanism for cost-sharing is to assess each library a share of the total cost of the 5 databases proportinate to the number of databases in which they have expressed an interest.
In addition, Mann is subscribing on its own to a set of 3 additional SilverPlatter databases within its collection scope (Health and Wellness, Water Resources, and World Textiles).
Mann Library will pay the 1998 first year fee for Zoological Record, and the three interested libraries will share the cost of the subsequent renewal fees (beginning with 1999 subscription).
SilverPlatter is providing Toxline free of charge for as long as we subscribe to a total of at least 7 databases.
The payment mechanism will be as follows: Mann will pay the entire bill and initiate fund transfer payment forms for the other science libraries to authorize reimbursement of Mann per the amounts on the attached spreadsheet.
It is anticipated that all 9 databases (5 science team titles, 3 mann titles, and one free title) will be available via the Library Gateway in the first week of January. One exception may be ENERGY, which expect will be loaded by LTD under WebSpirs and Infoshare.
