1) Recommendations from the Collection Development Executive Committee
John Saylor presented Enhancing Scholarly Communication and Research Collections in the Cornell University Library: A Strategy for Change in Collection Development, 2006-2010: Recommendations to Sarah Thomas and the Library Management Team from the CUL Collection Development Executive Committee. He told LMT that the report was unsolicited but that the Collection Development Executive Team (CDEXec) wanted to contribute in a constructive way to "the pending decisions about personnel realignments and the organization of Collection Development." The recommendations in the report have been discussed at several venues, including recent Olin Selectors Group and Science Team meetings. John said that the report does not necessarily reflect the comments of all selectors. Most significant is the recommendation that "Collection Development and the promotion and facilitation of Scholarly Communication at Cornell University Library be combined in a single portfolio that is the primary responsibility of an Associate University Librarian for Collections and Scholarly Communication who reports directly to the University Librarian."
Sarah thanked John and the members of CDExec for the report and said that she would consider the recommendations.
2) Follow Up on Priorities Discussion
Following up on its April 20 meeting with the leaders of the Priority Objectives Implementation Teams, LMT reviewed the recommendations made by the team leaders and discussed how best to move forward with these initiatives in 2006. This discussion will continue at the next meeting.
