Library Management Team
Notes from the May 24, 2006 meeting

Attending:  Karen Calhoun, Claire Germain, Tom Hickerson, Anne Kenney, Janet McCue, Jean Poland, Sarah Thomas, Ed Weissman, Susan Markowitz, Linda Bryan. 

1) Announcements
        Sarah congratulated Tom on being named the Vice-Provost & Director of Information Resources at the University of Calgary.  Tom's portfolio will include the Library, the Archives, the Press, the Image Centre and The Nickle Arts Museum.      
        
2) Follow Up on Priorities Discussion: the Innovation Without Burnout report and recommendations from Team #9
        Linda Bryan and Susan Markowitz discussed with LMT next steps in addressing the issues raised in the year 1 report from Priorities Implementation Team #9-- Innovation Without Burnout.  LMT is particularly concerned about responding to the issues of effective communication, staff satisfaction/employee morale, organizational learning, team building and best practices, engagement and other matters raised in the report.  Each member of the Library Management Team met separately with Linda Bryan prior to this meeting to discuss the findings and recommendations in the report.  Linda reported on the common ground that emerged from these conversations.  Sarah said that following through on these issues and effecting organizational improvements is now an LMT priority and that LMT will draw on the expertise of Linda, Susan and Library Human Resources as it moves forward and gears up for the next planning cycle.
