1) Announcements
Janet reported on the re-opening of the renovated Mann Library. On Monday, August 20 there was no furniture and no communications. On the first day of class, Thursday, August 23, Mann was operational, a credit to the outstanding efforts of the staff.
Janet announced the receipt of a $400,000 grant from the National Science Foundation to promote the role of the library in curating research data. Gail Steinhart is serving as the Principle Investigator.
Anne announced the formation of an Olin Renovation Oversight Group. While some members are still being recruited, Michelle Moody-Adams, Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education, and Charles Walcott, Dean of the Faculty, have agreed to serve.
2) CUL on the Web Vision Team recommendations: next steps
Zsuzsa Koltay, chair of the CUL on the Web Vision Team, reported that the each of the four executive teams, the Public Service Executive Committee, Advisory Council for Technical Services, Collection Development Executive Committee, and Information Technology Executive Committee, have endorsed the Vision Team's recommendations and provided useful feedback. The report was distributed on CU-LIB for staff input. The Weill Cornell Medical College Library is also reviewing the recommendations. Zsuzsa then presented recommendations regarding the implementation process itself. LMT endorsed the proposed implementation working teams and discussed the membership of these groups. Anne will announce these teams following notification of members and supervisors. [Anne sent an e-mail message to CU-LIB on 9/14/07.]
3) 2007-2008 CUL priorities
While the development of the Library's next strategic plan awaits the appointment of the new university librarian, LMT reviewed the list of priorities in the University Librarian's 2006-2007 annual report to the Provost < http://www.library.cornell.edu/staffweb/CULAnnualReport2006-07.pdf > and identified those that may require the commitment of additional resources in the coming year. One additional priority not included in the annual report to the Provost is the implementation of the Web Vision Team recommendations.
