Library
Management Team
Notes from the September 4, 2002 Meeting
Attending: Lee Cartmill, Karen Calhoun, Claire Germain, Tom Hickerson,
Anne Kenney, Jean Poland, Sarah Thomas
1) Is the Cornell Medical Library in Qatar CUL's 20th unit?
LMT identified
some of the issues relating to the new Cornell Medical College library in Qatar
and its affiliation with CUL, including shared licenses, its location in
another country, and processing needs. More information is needed before
a decision is made as to nature of the Qatar-CUL relationship. Sarah will
appoint a small group to investigate this further so that LMT can make a decision
next spring.
2) PEWS Diversity/Inclusion Proposal follow-up
LMT discussed
the proposal by Linda Bryan, Bob Rich and Susan Woods presented at the July 31
2002 meeting to create a CUL Inclusion Council. Concerns were expressed
about the fact that the process proposed sets up something of a shadow or
alternate organization. Sarah asked Lee to seek further clarification
from Linda Bryan and and report back to LMT so that a final decision on whether
to accept the proposal can be made.
3) Staff involvement on committees
During the 2001
Fall Semester, Library Human Resources conducted a study to document the time
library employees spend on CUL-wide committees. LMT began discussing the report
and will continue this discussion at an upcoming meeting.
