1) Announcements
Lee reported
that Janet Corson-Rikert, the director of Cornell University Health Services,
said that it is OK for Cornell faculty and staff to travel to Toronto for
business purposes. This covers the ALA Annual Meeting. Susan
Markowitz will send a message to inform CUL staff.
Janet announced
that the plans for the renovation of the original Mann Library building have
been approved and work is scheduled to begin in November 2003.
2) CUL Web Identity
LMT approved a
new image created by Carla DeMello for the Gateway Committee for use as the CUL
brand on Library and external Web pages. This will replace several
different images currently being used.
3) Technical Services Review
Karen presented
a plan and timetable for a Library-wide technical services review on behalf of
the LARIS Workforce Planning effort. The objective is to look for ways to
make CUL technical services operations more efficient and to identify
opportunities to improve how resources are deployed. The plan is to
conduct the review in three phases, focusing first on operations in CTS, Mann
and Law. A lively discussion ensued about the scope and process of the
review.
4) Guidelines for CUL-Wide Committees, Task Forces, etc.
Ed presented a
draft set of guidelines for CUL-wide committees, task forces, etc. The
guidelines cover establishing new groups, operating principles for groups, and
dissolving on-going groups. LMT approved the guidelines and agreed
that a review of existing committees should take place next academic year.
