1) Announcements
Jean reported that the renovations to the first floor of the Engineering Library were now complete; new furnishings are on order.
Janet announced that VIVO <http://vivo.library.cornell.edu/>, the virtual life sciences library, would be officially launched this week.
Tom said that the Kroch Library sprinkler system was being replaced this semester and that the work would result in the week-long closing of RMC and the first floor of Kroch Asia. Tom also said that the planned migration of Find Databases, Find e-Journals and Find articles, among other things to ENCompass 3.5 was not successful. After a brief transfer to version 3.5, we concluded that it was not operating sufficiently and we were fortunate to be able to revert back to version 3.0 quickly. Further investigation of this issue is under way.,
Claire announced that Nancy Moore, Senior Public Services Assistant and Document Delivery Supervisor in the Law Library, has been elected to the RLG SHARES Executive Group.

2) Library newsletters
Sarah said that she has asked Mary Beth Bunge, CUL's new Director of Communications and Media Relations, to create a newletter for all of CUL modeled on IRIS News and Notes. IRIS News and Notes will no longer be produced. The newsletter, intended for CUL staff, will come out monthly, starting most likely in March. Sarah said that Mary Beth will be soliciting news and information from LMT for this publication. LMT discussed the relationship of the new newsletter to other CUL publications.

3) Sarah reported Provost Biddy Martin was in the process of setting up task force's related to President Lehman's three priority areas of focus for Cornell:

Wisdom in the age of digital information
Life in the age of the genome
Sustainability in the age of development

LMT discussed possible Library involvement and agreed that the Library could contribute effectively to one or more of these groups.

Sarah also reported briefly on the "Ivies Plus" meeting she attended last week at Princeton University. Attendees reported on the priorities of each of their institutions and also on planning efforts going on in their libraries. The Ivies Plus group includes all of the Ivy League institutions plus MIT, Chicago and Stanford.
