Finding Electronic Journals

The Library Gateway's Find e-Journals provides links to electronic journals licensed by Cornell University Library. These titles may be searched or browsed using the search window and alphabetical index on the page. If you are working from off-campus, please see the note on Using Library Resources Off Campus.

Other ways to find electronic journals:

  • CU Library Catalog
Electronic journals may be searched by title using the Basic Search method in the CU Library Catalog. Records for e-journals are identified by the Networked resource symbol in the right hand column of search results list.
  • Library Gateway: Find it!
Large aggregations or collections of electronic journals that Cornell subscribes to are accessible from the Library Gateway's Find it!, as well as from the Library Catalog. These collections of journals can be searched by the title of the collection or the name of the publisher, but not by titles of individual journals. For example, PSYCArticles provides full text access to articles from journals published by the American Psychological Association and allied organizations since 1988. A search for the title psycarticles in either Find it! or the Library Catalog will lead you to the same group (aggregation) of electronic journals.

Other resources for electronic journals

The Library Catalog and other Cornell resources provide access to e-journals CU Library subscribes to for our readers. There are many electronic journals that are freely accessible to anyone, and other subscription electronic journals that we do not receive. For information on these, try the following resources:
  • Directory of Electronic Journals, Newsletters and Academic Discussion Lists
Published by the Association of Research Libraries, this directory is a reference tool for finding publishers and web sites of electronic journals. The online version is an archive of earlier electronic editions of the directory. The latest edition of the directory is available in print at Engineering, Olin, Law, ILR, and Mann Libraries.
  • NewJour
The New Journal and Newsletter Announcement List for new serials on the Internet.
