Objectives for 1999-2000

Objectives for 1999-2000

  1. Implement the Library Management System.
  2. Develop a strategic plan for digital initiatives.
  3. Participate actively in the shaping of the Computing and Information Science program for the University.
  4. Conduct an assessment of Cornell faculty, student, and staff information needs, review trends in technology and services, and direct resources to provide innovative, useful services and support for users. As an example, release the "MyLibrary" service of current awareness and personalized electronic services in the fall.
  5. Establish an Advisory Council comprised of Cornell alumni and professional librarians for development and guidance about industry trends relevant to the Library's mission.
  6. Raise resources to complete the retrospective conversion of card catalog holdings.
  7. Begin planning for a second module of the Library Annex, required for expansion of the library's collections.
  8. Anticipate and respond to changes in scholarly communication based on opportunities in electronic publishing.
  9. Increase diversity in the Library.
  10. Contribute to the planning of effective integration of student intellectual and social life by participating in reviews of North Campus and West Campus residential life programs.
  11. Develop plans for the reconceptualization of Uris Library.
  12. Continue with the planning and implementation of the upgrade of HVAC and installation of sprinklers in Olin Library.
  13. Continue the Cornell University Library's tradition of excellence.
