“As a contributor to the campus Labor Roundtable, I was faced with the daunting task of studying international labor trends across several decades. My deadline was approaching, and I had a few sources from online databases but wasn’t satisfied with their depth. I decided to try out the 24/7 Ask a Librarian Chat and, within minutes, was sifting through hundreds of newspapers in our digital newspaper archive. I was surprised to see that all past issues of the Cornell Daily Sun are digitized and interactive, which meant it was so easy to compile individual articles. I was able to use past campus events to apply my research to current campus dynamics. The librarian also linked me to Proquest’s historical newspaper archive, where I found an entire list of useful resources within the Chinese Newspapers collection. I’m so glad I reached out to the librarians on a whim, because I found a category of specific resources that I wouldn’t have found browsing on my own.”Kyra Butler ’20, history major
