Announcing the New Interim Director of Mann Library
Mary Ochs, head of Collection Development and Preservation at Mann Library, will become Mann’s interim director effective Oct. 15.
Ochs will be replacing McCue at the head of Mann, after McCue accepted her new position as part of Cornell University Library’s fall 2008 reorganization. McCue served as director of Mann, as well as Associate University Librarian for the Life Sciences, for the past 10 years.
“Not every librarian can claim experience in almost every department of the library, but Mary can,” said Janet McCue, the new Associate University Librarian for Teaching, Research, Outreach & Learning Services. “In her 20-plus-year career, Mary has left her mark on collection development, instruction, reference, interlibrary loan and cataloging.”
Ochs has an undergraduate degree is from CALS and completed her graduate work at Syracuse. During her time at Mann, she has helped the Library gather awards from the Gates Foundation, the Rockefeller Foundation, the National Endowment for the Arts and the Institute of Museum and Library Services.
“I can't imagine a more ‘uniquely qualified’ person for the position of interim director,” McCue said. “Please join me in congratulating Mary, and wishing her much luck in her new role.”
